The Moments We Get to Keep...

The Moments We Get to Keep

This week, my daughter and grandson came to visit, and my heart feels a little fuller because of it.

My daughter was so sweet and made us all dinner one evening so we could sit down and enjoy a meal together as a family.

It doesn’t cease to amaze me that she's a mom now.

Watching the way she loves her son is one of those things that quietly takes my breath away. She is gentle, kind, and patient with him; there is so much love in the way she cares for him.

I couldn't help but feel proud.

Then there's my grandson, that little guy is a hoot.

He is expressive, funny, full of personality, and apparently believes hugs are always a good idea. Watching him grow and discover who he is brings me so much joy.

Somewhere in the middle of it all, I found myself thinking about how much of life we get to witness.

We spend so much time thinking about what the next goal, season, or thing we're working toward.

Sometimes we forget to stop and notice what's already right in front of us. This week reminded me to do just that.

To be present for the ordinary moments that may one day become the memories we treasure most.

There is something incredibly special about watching your children grow into who they are, and then watching their children begin to become who they are meant to be.

I don't know exactly what God has planned for either of them but I am grateful that I get a front-row seat for this part of their story.

And maybe that's the reminder I needed this week:

Sometimes the blessing isn't waiting for what's next, it's realizing how much beauty is already here, right in front of us.

Take a moment to look around. You might be standing in the middle of something you'll one day wish you could experience all over again.

"Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:34 (NIV)

This Weeks Reflection

What is happening in your life today that you might one day wish you could experience all over again?

These moments don't always announce themselves, they happen in the ordinary day-to-day life we’re all living.

Until next time,

Remember That Dream You Planted? I write my newsletters in real time and chose Wednesday intentionally. With that said, it's been a busy week on many levels. Maybe at some point, I'll lean more towards automated delivery. I've been planting seeds lately. I've planted many throughout my life and have been blessed to see them come to fruition. The harvest depends as much on the seed as it does on the faith required to believe in the fullness of it. This is my third newsletter in a row on faith....

Concerts In The Car Quick update: I'm still not on the beach, in the Caribbean. "No Woman, No Cry" did get blasted in my car a time or two, and I may or may not have been singing along at the top of my lungs, with other drivers looking over at me having my own concert session. Last week I shared my personal frustrations, which allowed me to take a step back and reflect. Walking into this week, I would remind that version of me that through all of my adversities, God has never failed me yet....

Are You There, God? Last week I touched on joy. This week, well, quite frankly, I'm finding myself feeling frustrated. I've reached my creative plateau. I'm throwing in the towel. Saying farewell. Okay, not really, but that's how I feel. I've put in some time being absorbed, and now I have these completely absurd thoughts creeping in. Is that you, God, or am I crazy? Either could be true at this point. Ever been called to something you don't feel qualified for? Let's rephrase. Ever thought,...
